The department of social work was instituted on the same day when SIBER as an Institute was established. in 1994 this department was renamed as D.K.Shinde School Of Social Work.
The department objective is to organize and impart scientific training in the field of social work ; with a strong emphasis on field work and related activities. The department attracts students from various parts of India and especially from southern states in India.
Under the autonomous status of the institute, the department has a board of studies which revises the syllabus periodically and makes the necessary changes as and when required. Thus the syllabus of the course is comparative to the course of the leading institutions in India. It incorporates the current necessities of social work profession, like computer applications.
